Blue Ridge Dress Tester Tour: Day 1 and a GIVEAWAY!

In case you missed it last week, the Blue Ridge Dress PDF pattern is now for sale in my ETSY shop! You can use the code BLUERIDGELAUNCH through Friday, July 3rd for 20% off the price of the pattern. You can read more details about features of the pattern here. It took months of work learning all the ins and outs of pattern making, new software, and you know, actually working on my pattern, but it is done and I am so proud of the finished product. I started the Pattern Workshop course in January and made a goal to release a pattern by July. Well, here we are, June 29th, and my pattern was released a few days ago. I am so amazed at all I was able to learn in such a short amount of time- I'd never drafted my own pattern before taking the course, and now here I am with a girls dress pattern in 13 sizes with a fully illustrated tutorial.

I owe so much to my husband who took on countless more tasks at home so that I could focus on working on the pattern. Much of the refinement of the pattern is also thanks to the wonderful women who tested for me. It is a much better pattern because of them, and so I'm happy to have the opportunity this week to feature some of their work on a Tester Tour! Each day this week I'll link to some of their blogs where they are sharing their versions of the Blue Ridge Dress.

One of the best parts of the online sewing community is getting to know some amazing people that you'd otherwise have no way of knowing. Sharing this experience of testing my pattern with mostly complete strangers was nerve wracking- what if they didn't like it? What if they were mean and said I'd done a horrible job? The internet is full of mean people, you know? I don't know what I was worried about. Sewing people are the best people, and they were all wonderful to work with.

So without further adieu, here are the stops on today's tester tour! Click through and have a look, maybe show them a little love in the comments while you're at it?

Karly Nelson- Paisley Roots

Karly has been a big supporter through this whole process for me. From the time I first shared photos of the Blue Ridge Dress I was working on for Stylo with some of the other contributors to getting through the brunt of testing she has cheered me on and kept me going. Knowing I had someone excited about my pattern before it was even close to being a pattern helped me have the confidence to keep working. Karly has two adorable versions to share with you today!

1 main

Emilie Ahern- Plucky Momo

Emilie and I "met" quite serendipitously when she met my mother in real life at a preschool graduation. Her adorable kids were wearing adorable handmade dresses and my mom struck up a conversation about it. My mom bragged (as good mothers do) about my to soon-to-be-released pattern, so Emilie found me on Instagram and our insta-friendship started. She makes lovely things and documents life on her blog Plucky Momo, and reading her blog makes me wish we were next door neighbors. She's that cool.

Katrien Creemers- KaatjeNaaisels

If you've been sewing along with Kid's Clothes Week this season you may recognize Katrien- she's a contributor to the Kid's Clothes Week blog! Her blog is new to me and I'm amazed at the lovely stuff she's made for her two girls. 11072136_10153079407258402_2660438540349191264_o
